Recently, the World Steel Association (WSA) released global crude steel production data for February 2025. In February 2025, the 69 countries and regions tracked by WSA produced 144.7 million tons of crude steel, marking a year-on-year decrease of 3.4%. From January to February, the cumulative crude steel output of these 69 countries and regions reached 302 million tons, down 2.2% year-on-year.
From the perspective of the world's top 10 steel- producing countries (regions), in February, the estimated crude steel output of mainland China was 78.92 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.3%; India's crude steel output was 12.7 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%; Japan's crude steel output was 6.4 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 8.5%; the United States' crude steel output was 6 million tons, a year- on-year decrease of 7.0%; Russia's estimated crude steel output was 5.8 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.4%; South Korea's crude steel output was 5.2 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.7%; Turkey's crude steel output was 2.9 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.6%; Brazil's crude steel output was 2.7 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.6%; Germany's crude steel output was 2.7 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 13.5%; Iran's crude steel output was 1.7 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 21.8%.
In February, the output of direct reduced iron (DRI) in 13 countries around the world was 8.85 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.0%. Among them, India's direct reduced iron production was 4.52 million tons, an increase of 5.6% year-on-year; Iran's direct reduced iron production was 1.24 million tons, a decrease of 13.9% year-on-year.
