On November 22, the World Steel Association (WSA) released global crude steel production data for October 2024. In October, the crude steel production of 71 countries and regions included in the World Steel Association statistics was 152.1 million tons, an increase of 1.0% year-on-year. From January to October, the crude steel production of 71 countries and regions included in the World Steel Association statistics was 1.547 billion tons, a decrease of 1.6% year-on-year.
Looking at the world’s top 10 steel-producing countries (regions), in October, China’s crude steel output was 81.88 million tons, up 2.9% year-on-year; India’s crude steel output was 12.5 million tons, up 1.7% year-on-year; Japan’s crude steel output was 6.9 million tons, down 7.8% year-on-year; the United States’ crude steel output was 6.6 million tons, down 2.0% year-on-year; Russia’s estimated crude steel output was 5.6 million tons, down 15.2% year-on-year; South Korea’s crude steel output was 4.5 million tons, down 18.3% year-on-year; Germany’s crude steel output was 3.2 million tons, up 14.7% year-on-year; Brazil’s crude steel output was 3.1 million tons, up 16.2% year-on-year; Turkey’s crude steel output was 3 million tons, up 0.7% year-on-year; Iran’s crude steel output was 3 million tons, down 1.9% year-on-year.
In October, the direct reduced iron (DRI) production of 13 countries worldwide was 12.84 million tons, an increase of 16.9% year-on-year. Among them, India’s direct reduced iron production was 4.85 million tons, an increase of 11.3% year-on-year; Iran’s direct reduced iron production was 4.69 million tons, an increase of 44.2% year-on-year. From January to October, the direct reduced iron production of 13 countries in the world was 106 million tons, an increase of 6.1% year-on-year.
